Free Try-Out Sessions

Entry into the Young Australian Broadway Chorus is by a try-out session. The program is open to prospective students aged 8 to 18 years.

Our try-outs are fun, relaxed, free of charge and are designed to give prospective students and parents an insight to our classes.

Try-outs are conducted in groups of approximately 15-20 participants, and parents are invited into the session as a supportive audience. The group, which at times will be split into smaller groups and pairs, is led through various performing activities, including improvisation, voice and movement. Assessments are based on participation in these exercises.

After the try-out, successful applicants are offered a placement at their preferred venue. We do our best to place each student in their chosen class providing their age and ability is appropriate and there is space in the class. Students are required to complete an enrolment form and confirm a payment plan before commencing class.

We ask prospective students to bear in mind three key points.
 

1. Enjoy yourself! The try-out is with a group, and you don't have to read anything, or do anything on your own.
2. Try-outs are simple. So if you do have previous performing arts experience, make sure you participate in all activities to the best of your abilities to show the teaching panel what you can do.
3. Don't worry if you have never done anything like this before. Lots of young people try-out for us without any previous performing experience.

Try-out sessions are held twice a year in February and June.

2011 Try-Out Sessions

The Broadway Chorus are running free try out sessions in February for intake into the program for 2011. You don't need any experience - just come and join in.
