Children's Performing Company of Australia
Developing young people through the performing arts

History

The Victorian Youth Theatre is a division of the CPCA and was founded by Patrick Conlan in 1984 trading originally as the Victorian Children’s Theatre. From humble beginnings in a local church hall, the organization has grown into Victoria’s largest single provider of drama, song and dance training for young people.

Initially concentrating on improvised drama, the course soon expanded to include script work, acting for the camera, singing and dance.

There are now nearly 800 Victorian Youth Theatre students at 19 venues throughout Melbourne.
