About The Victorian Youth Theatre

We All Act All The Time

Established in 1984, the Victorian Youth Theatre is one of the oldest performance based drama schools in Melbourne. With a proven track record of success and an exciting and stimulating curriculum, the Victorian Youth Theatre allows every young performer to shine.

The programme, which accepts students aged 8 to 18 years, is beneficial for both the aspiring actor and those wishing to improve self confidence, self awareness and language skills.

Working with professional drama directors in weekly rehearsals, our performing arts training improves performer stagecraft skills  as well as providing an environment for increased creativity and friendships.

The Youth Theatre programme offers a variety of tuition including

improvisation and creative drama, script work, voice projection, articulation and character work. Rehearsing in small classes with students of similar age and ability, all members perform in a fully staged theatrical production at the end of each semester.

Advanced students also have the opportunity to be promoted into advanced performing groups, where their skills are refined and they are offered opportunities for touring and other public performances.
