Children's Performing Company of Australia
Developing young people through the performing arts

Tours

The company has a strong history of performing both locally, interstate and overseas. International tours take place every two years with the company travelling to the USA in 1996, 1999, 2006, 2008, and to Europe in 1997, 2002 and 2004.

International tours are a wonderful opportunity for students to develop performing skills, gain an insight into travelling with a performance, and explore the world with like-minded friends and company staff.

In September 2008, fifty-seven students aged 10 to 19 travelled to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and New York City with a musical adaptation based on Sonya Hartnett’s highly acclaimed novel, The Silver Donkey. Performance venues included Disneyland, The Acorn Theatre off Broadway and numerous high schools.

“It is an awesome responsibility to prepare a show for the world stage,” says CPCA Director Robert Coates. “Our performers travel not only as representatives of our company, but as cultural ambassadors for Australia. It is a wonderful opportunity to watch young people grow as performers and rise to the challenge of an international tour.”

The CPCA has also taken part in four Adelaide Fringe Festivals.

All students are invited to take part in touring opportunities.
